The World Football Summit is finally being hosted in Africa and Durban, South Africa is the venue. The event was officially launched on Tuesday the 4th of February, 2020 and is set to gather the most relevant stakeholders in the global and regional industry.

“We are absolutely convinced that the region gathers all the necessary ingredients for the football industry to bloom. The passion and talent that exists in Africa for football is unmatchable to that of anywhere else. Africa also has 20% of the world’s youngest population making it a market with a huge potential for growth”, said WFS Director Jan Alessie.

FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Argentinian legend Juan Sebastián Verón will share the stage with key African figures such as the SAFA President, Danny Jordaan, Sierra Leone Football Association President, Isha Johansen and KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala amoungst others.

The KZN Premier stressed his excitement on behalf of the Province. “We are excited and very proud to play host to such a global event that brings all those involved in the business of sports together.”

Meanwhile, on Thursday February the 6th, the WFS hosted the networking breakfast in Johannesburg and Marcos Pelegrin, Managing Director of LaLiga for South Africa said the WFS Africa will become the catalyst and driver of future projects. “It is proven that WFS events bring business and development to the communities.”

The World Football Summit Africa is set for the 17th and 18th of March, 2020 at the Durban International Convention Centre.
