South Africa’s Bafana Bafana victorious as they win 5-4 on Penalties to scoop their 5th Cosafa Cup title in the 20th edition of the COSAFA Cup tournament held in Nelson Mandela Bay on Sunday July 18th, 2021.
The final match between the host Nation and Senegal played out to a goalless draw in both regulation and extra time with both teams having a fair share of opportunities but none to convert which led to penalties.
It was the shot by Senegalese Goalkeeper Pape Ndiaye that went over the bar that decided the fate of the match after each side had missed a penalty and South Africa being at the advantage.
South African Goalkeeper Veli Mothwa was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament for his outstanding performance for going five games without conceding a goal.
Midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe was named the player of the Tournament while the top goal scorer Accolade was awarded to Victor Letsoalo who scored 4 goals, 3 being a hatrick in the match against Lesotho.
